The soul (the skull) is immortal, just as the creations we leave behind (ancient sculpture) are immortal. Even if someone wants to trample our heritage (a statue chipped and painted by vandals), it will still live. And from our ashes, flowers and trees (leaves and roses) will grow, and the circle of life will continue to turn the wheel of samsara.
The painting is inspired by the songs of the French singer Mylene Farmer and the ancient Mexican holiday "Day of All the Dead (Dia de los muertos)".
